School-Based Health Centers and the Intersection of Youth Empowerment and Health Care
Written and researched by YES! staff Parrish Ravelli and consultant Meredith Ledford, this paper was developed to promote the role of youth empowerment in an ever-changing health care system. By connecting research around patient-engagement, patient-centered medical homes and the application of the youth empowerment theory, this paper highlights the impact on both the patient and the provider when youth are given an opportunity to have a more active role in their own health care.
Youth Empowerment: The Theory and Its Implementation
At YES! we know that empowered youth, working in partnership with adults, have great power to create lasting, positive change in their communities. Written and researched by YES! staff Jeanne Dairaghi, Bronwyn Lucas and Parrish Ravelli, and consultant Meredith Ledford, this paper was developed to address a need for evidence-based research on youth empowerment, and to show how the theory of youth empowerment can be translated into practice.
