YES! to Host a Free Webinar for Adult Allies
In response to the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, youth across the country are coming together to lead, ignite crucial conversations, shape public policy, and build a nation-wide movement to end gun violence. Young people are organizing school walkouts, releasing powerful statements to the press, staging “lie-ins” outside of the White House, lobbying at the Florida Capitol, engaging in conversations with elected-officials, and creating national marches to demand change.
This is a critical moment for youth empowerment where youth leadership and movement-building is emerging on a national scale in ways that remind us all that youth have historically been at the forefront of social change, ranging from the Civil Rights Movement to Black Lives Matter.
As an organization committed to creating a society where empowered youth leaders work alongside adults to create equitable and thriving communities, Youth Empowered Solutions (YES!) stands in support of and is inspired by these youth-led efforts toward change.
To further elevate, support and amplify this youth activism, YES! will be hosting a webinar for adults across the country who want to learn how to be effective allies in youth-led movements. This webinar will not focus on or debate any specific policy issue. We will offer strategies and guidance for adults who want to understand youth empowerment and support youth-led policy change efforts.
