Bringing Change to Home Base
The Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, NC sits in the shadows of tobacco warehouses and the Lucky Strike Tower. Named after a popular tobacco brand, the last thing some could imagine is seeing the fairly new stadium go smoke-free. Well, in 2005, that is exactly what happened after several youth from our Question Why program worked with their management to get the policy changed.
Youth from our program worked to create surveys and other advocacy strategies that finally got the policy changed so that all the guests that attend the stadium could enjoy clean air at ball park.
If you want to bring home change in your community, give us a call at (919)878-8777.
It seems that the common complaint about youth is that they don’t get involved, and if they do, they aren’t very useful. The good news? Our youth staff can teach your youth skills to work in the community and adult staff in our organization can teach adults how to effectively recruit and retain youth to your program.
