Asheville Youth Staff
Hi, my name is Carmen Procida and I attend Buncombe County Early College, where I will graduate in 2016. In my free time I enjoy reading and doing Sudoku. When I found out about Youth Empowered Solutions, I was immediately interested and excited that there is an organization that empowers youth to make change in the community. I enjoy working at YES! because it gives me the opportunity to influence decisions that affect the health of others.
Hello, my name is Tyshaun Johnson and I attend Asheville High School where I am a senior. I learned about Youth Empowered Solutions from my school social worker who thought it would be a good way to earn money and help my community. I enjoy playing basketball, reading, and exploring new things and ideas. I also enjoy music and rhythms. At school I have many unique classes but my favorites are English and Latin. In the future I would like to pursue a career in psychology.
Hi, my name is Kelsey Simmons and I am a part of the 2015 class at the School of Inquiry Life Sciences of Asheville. When I graduate from high school, I plan to major in fashion design in college and have microbiology as a backup. I enjoy drawing and traveling in my free time. I learned about YES! through a friend and thought it would be a great program to be part of because I feel like youth should be more involved in the community.
Hi, my name is Flannery Rokeby-Jackson. I am 16 years old and a member of the School of Inquiry and Life Sciences at Asheville’s class of 2015. My favorite topics in school include micro/macroeconomics and civics. I love to travel and read in my free time. When I first heard about YES! from a classmate, I knew I wanted to work in an environment where youth are able to make big changes in the community and the lives of others. I believe that giving youth the ability to make a difference and help people in their community is extremely important in creating a sustainable future.
